My name is Mike Stefano, and I am a professional musician and certified middle school music teacher offering private woodwind and saxophone lessons in West Chester, PA and the surrounding Chester County area. I specialize in saxophone instruction and also teach flute, clarinet, and all other woodwind instruments.
I offer in-home private music lessons throughout West Chester, Downingtown, Exton, Malvern, and nearby communities. My lessons are designed for beginners as well as advancing band and jazz band students and are tailored to your child’s learning style, experience level, and musical goals. Whether your child is looking to excel in their band or jazz band, prepare for an audition, or simply build some confidence on their instrument, I provided structured, supportive instruction to help young musicians succeed.
What I Teach
I provide well-rounded woodwind instruction rooted in both classical and jazz traditions. Students build strong fundamentals in tone production, technique, music reading, rhythm, and articulation. I am highly familiar with the method books and repertoire commonly used in elementary and middle school band curricula, allowing lessons to align closely with what students are learning in school.For students ready to go further, I also offer focused instruction in jazz style and improvisation. This includes learning scales, chord progressions, jazz phrasing, and ear-training skills that help students gain confidence, creativity, and musical independence. Whether your child is working toward band assessments, auditions, or exploring improvisation for the first time, lessons are structured to meet their current level while encouraging steady musical growth.
